Walid Sarieddine has over 25 years’ experience across advisory, corporate and investment banking and has been a specialist in Islamic Finance and MENA debt markets for the last 15 years.
Walid has recently moved to SMBC DIFC Dubai where he is now Head of the Islamic Finance Window and actively involved in the coverage and execution activities in the GCC. He had joined SMBC in London in 2009 and led a successful effort to enable SMBC to offer its clients various debt and treasury products for asset, project, corporate and trade finance across multiple sectors including Infrastructure, Energy, Transport Financial Institutions with an additional focus to offer such products in a Sharia compliant structure. He also worked closely with the advisory team and took a lead on building relationships with various financial institutions and multilateral organizations including the Islamic Development Bank Group with whom the SMBC Group has forged a solid and diversified business relationship including an active MOU with ICIEC . He also continues to actively support the DCM activities of SMBC Group leading to a fast-growing role in the Sukuk markets.
Prior to joining SMBC he spent over 4 years at a European bank based in London as Head of the Islamic Finance unit and part of a highly active MENA debt origination team focused on underwriting and distributing in the syndicated markets for corporates and financial institutions.
